J. Curt Law, Esq.
Managing Partner
Mr. Law strategically placed his firm in Atlanta’s West End/Atlanta University Center. It has always been important to take part in the community he serves. Understanding how this community is constantly targeted, but rarely represented, he wanted to change that practice in The J.L. Law Group. For the Community, From the Community has been the firm’s creed and we are proud that 97% of our clients have come from organic referrals.
Results are a major focus for our firm and our clients. In 2023, we were able to recover over $4,000,000 dollars for our clients including a $1,000,000 million dollar settlement in a DUI collision in Fulton County. Every case big or small matters to our firm and we strive on providing excellent care and customer service to each and every client.
Mr. Law is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Gate City Bar Association, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity Inc. Family is a pillar in Curt’s life, and he enjoys every moment with his daughters Cadence and Justice and wife Crystal.
Sedaries A. Mathis, Esq.
Junior Associate
Attorney Sedaries A. Mathis is a passionate individual who values community, integrity, and fairness. She is an Atlanta native and graduated from Oglethorpe University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She went on to graduate from Mercer University School of Law to obtain her Juris Doctor in 2022. Attorney Mathis is compassionate, respectful, ambitious, and has a strong work-ethic. She is exceedingly responsible, resourceful, and results driven.
Ms. Mathis is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. Her passion for community is driven by her altruistic nature. Her qualifications make her a perfect fit for our firm.
Brittany Johnson
Litigation Paralegal
Brittany Johnson is an Atlanta native who attended the prestigious Alabama State University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in English. Ms. Johnson has been with The J.L Law Group since 2020. As a client advocate, her role is essential from case initiation to completion. Her passion is woven into the motto of the firm which is "For the community, from the community."
Prior to a career in Personal Injury, Ms. Johnson worked in education and marketing. She is also a licensed State of Georgia Notary. In her leisure, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her daughter, Bayleigh.
Marvin J. Plowden, J.D., LL.M
Office Manager/Case Manager
Marvin J. Plowden II, a native of Saginaw, Michigan, is a graduate of Faulkner University School of Law. After graduating, Marvin founded MTC Sports Group where he is a Certified NFL and NBA Agent.
Marvin also earned a Master of Laws in Advocacy & Dispute Resolution and is also a civil mediator, receiving extensive training in negotiation. Marvin fully understands the importance of consistent & clear communication and strives to bring those qualities into his work at The J.L. Law Group.
Marvin also carries a true appreciation for Family & Friendship as he endeavors to cultivate genuine relationships with his clients and their families. He is always open to discussing how he can help you succeed in law, life, or sports.
Marvin is the son of Marvin Sr. & Theresa Plowden. He has two sisters Sharifa & Imani, as well as two nieces Kailah & KaMari.
Alexis Stokes, J.D.
Law Clerk
Alexis Stokes is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana; she earned her bachelor’s degree with honors in
history from Xavier University of Louisiana. She earned her Juris Doctorate when she graduated cum laude from Southern University Law Center in 2023. Alexis began her career in 2022 at the firm with a summer internship position. She is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyer Association.
As a recent graduate Ms. Stokes has vast legal knowledge combined with the legal experienced gained during her internship with the firm. Just like the practices of the firm, through her experiences she acquired vital knowledge of the complexities personal injury cases in Georgia. As a first-generation lawyer, Ms. Stokes developed a passion for helping clients with a lack of legal knowledge acquire effective legal representation.
Paralegal
Ashley Randolph-Bennett is an Atlanta native and graduate of Bennett College, majoring in Biology/Pre-Med. She aspires to become a medical doctor. She joined the firm in 2015 and has many years of successful experience in case management, medical record retrieval and review, and demand preparation. Ashley is an excellent resource for obtaining medical records and provider communication.
Prior to working in Personal Injury, Ms. Randolph-Bennett worked in the medical and educational fields. She is very passionate about completing what she starts and driven to reach what some would consider unattainable. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, working out, watching movies, and spending time with her son Thierry and wife Gina.
